Level 3 (green) introduces the 'magic e' for spelling words with the long vowels (as in make, like, bone and tune) to give a new challenge to young readers. These readers should be used at the beginning of the second year of learning to read with Jolly Phonics. The Jolly Readers use controlled vocabulary so children can read words from their knowledge of the letter sounds in Jolly Phonics.
