There are 27 units of work in each book— three units per text type— based around high interest topical reading matter relevant to the target age groups: sports, food, music, TV, issues of concern and favoured literature. As well as fundamental comprehension and inferential activities, there are also higher order thinking activities. These encourage students to become independent enthusiastic learners and are fostered through the use of Bloom’s Revised Hierarchy and Gardner’s Eight Multiple Intelligences. A detailed matrix enables the teacher to address each child’s individual learning preferences, and will encourage open-ended questioning techniques, discovery learning, freedom of choice, group interaction and variation in pacing. Helen Robinson is a very experienced teacher and is the author of the successful Read About―Think About series.
